Cam Rule

The Downtime Assassin

Cam has seen how IT can be more than just a drain on resources, but can actually provide a return on investment for businesses. Since watching his architect dad’s designs come to life in front of his eyes, Cam has taken a keen interest in the building industry. Cam – the true IT Downtime Assassin – has been in the IT industry since 2002 but has taken a special interest in construction businesses. He’s seen and done it all when it comes to the Construction IT game. He has helped some of the biggest players nation-wide to not only solve issues, but forward-plan so that there is less downtime in the business. He is a highly qualified professional (B Sc Computer Science & Psych, Diploma of Modern languages, Microsoft Certified Professional, Commvault Certified Admin), but his best qualification is that he puts his heart and soul into what he does. Cam now helps construction businesses to improve their workflow through technology and find the right IT support partner for their needs using his Intensive.

As a young boy, I grew up in the dongas watching my dad lead a team of builders to create the projects that now define Perth. I always dreamed of “doing what dad does” and making my mark on Australia’s skyline. But fate had different plans for me. I found myself drawn to the world of IT and the possibility that IT presented for the future of the building industry. Through networks and data, we can create any physical structure. And that is where my passion has led me today.

After an expansive career in IT, I decided to set up my own firm. I was excited, I was ready for change. However, shortly after the business began, our family suffered a series of losses. I had two choices; to give up or to provide for my wife and child. I decided to persevere with the business, and I learnt what is important in life. I didn’t get lost in small things and I was able to see the big picture and the legacy I was building. We grew greatly and was able to build a fantastic team, alongside my wife Michelle.

We’ve won awards for customer service and innovation over the years and have grown to service several clients. My vision is to help construction companies across Australia, addressing their IT innovatively to protect themselves from 11th-hour technology disasters that can mean the difference between growth and stagnation.

In my personal life, I love sailing and have won multiple state championships. I have learned a lot from sailing – how to be organised and strategic – which I apply in my business.
